One of Scotland's prettiest beaches that line the Angus coast can be found in Montrose. The town of Montrose boasts of a beautiful bathing sandy beach now rated as a Blue Flag Beach for its cleanliness. Montrose beach with 3 miles of golden sand is easily accessed by steps and a boardwalk. A number of educational walks, led by rangers are normally organised every summer. It is a lovely place for a family day out!
Adjacent to the beach is "Seafront Splash" - a modern, purpose built play area which incorporates a number of activity areas that provide a variety of opportunities for children of all ages to play in a safe and secure environment, including the traditional bucket and spade contingent!
There is a wide host of modern adventure play equipment suitable for the older kids as well as the juniors. In addition there is an attractive paddling pool of an unusual design provides a safe environment for the kids to enjoy themselves. Besides this there is also a 'construction' site as well as other pieces of interactive equipment. In addition there is also a new play area for children with disabilities donated by GlaxoSmith Kline to mark their 50th Anniversary in Montrose.
Next to the play area there is a small promenade, ample car parking, picnic tables and access to toilets in the Traill Pavilion. For the more energetic, cycles can be hired or you can take part in a game of pitch and putt on the East Links, which is directly behind the Play Area.
Onsite, there is a family run café and amusement centre including a mini car track. The Montrose Indoor Sports Centre and the famous Golf Links are all within walking distance of the Beach.
For fresh air and the best seaside entertainment, a visit to the Montrose Seafront 'SPLASH' is a must for all age groups!
