B-Lo is a small family run operation that offers freshly prepared modern Scottish cooking in a newly renovated and decorated cafe restaurant in the centre of Montrose. Marie has drawn on her many years of managing some of Scotland's and the World's most beautiful destination hotels and restaurants to create an internal space that is both light and intimate as well as modern and functional .
Their specialty is to provide innovative and modern Scottish cuisine with a healthy twist. They have achieved the national healthy living award as well as recognition from EatScotland. All food made on site serving coffees, teas, lunches and dinners.
The Friday and saturday evenings bring a little something special, the menu evolve week to week to bring fresh seasonal food at its best. Starters could vary from Pressed terrine of organic rabbit and apricots, crisp fish cake on a warm soused vegetable salad or grilled goats cheese tarte among others. Main course could be a Mixed Scottish sea food tossed with ribbon pasta and extra virgin olive oil, slow cooked leg of duck with braised beans and parmesan fritters, duo of pork loin and braised belly on creamed potatoes and roast vegetables or a healthy serving of Wild mushroom strudel on savoury cracked wheat dressed bitter leaves. Home made desserts vary frm Warmed pears dressed with honeyed walnuts, Rhubarb semi freddo or steamed date sponge topped with toffee sauce and vanilla ice cream.
Two courses at £17.95 and Three courses at £23.50. There is a separate menu for lunch and weekends, while daily specials is a variety. The Chef try and put on a few extra dishes, these may be as simple as some wild gathered mushrooms with olive oil and pasta or haggis stuffed chicken breast to offer variety on a daily basis.
B-Lo is also firmly committed to the values and ethos of the fair trade movement. Open at 6pm for evening meals.
