Montrose is a bustling coastal town with an ancient history, classic Georgian and Victorian architecture and lots of places to explore. Montrose benefits from being on the main north east coastal railway line located between Dundee and Aberdeen. By rail, it is an easy 2-hour travel from Glasgow or Edinburgh, 30mins from Dundee or 40mins from Aberdeen.
The town boasts of having the widest High Street in Scotland, excellent Blue Flag beach, the fifth oldest golf course in the world, a wide range of local sculptures, architectural buildings such as Montrose Old Church with its landmark 220ft spire erected in 1834, Britain's first operational military airfield now home to the Montrose Air Station Heritage Centre and the most impressive of all is the town's spectacular view of a two-mile tidal lagoon, Montrose Basin, home to thousands of migratory birds.
